Once upon two different times there were two women who were pioneers in establishing a path toward equality.
This blog and the "Be A Be(h)n!" Movement is named in their honor.
Aphra Behn
Aphra Behn was the first woman to write and get paid under her name. She was a radical activist. She lived her life on her terms. She was even a spy for what she believed.
Lisa Ben
Lisa Ben is the creator of the GLBT alternative press. Lisa Ben forged a community through writing where once it was too dangerous to exist. And she did it innocently by simply living her own life. Lisa Ben continues to motivate through words and music.
We capture the spirit from both of these pioneering women by naming the movement in their (h)onor.
We merge their names with a parenthetical (h)!
